Our Activities

  • Education

Fellowships

Every year, we award annual fellowships to students from the École Polytechnique and to graduates or current students of the Doctoral Program in Science at the Université de Bourgogne.

Annual fellowships are also granted to Cultural Heritage Conservators and Curators with degrees from the Institut National du Patrimoine.

Career Guidance

Creation of a mentoring network as well as an association of former fellowship recipients for guiding new Fellows in identifying career paths and opportunities.

  • Publications

Recognition of historical research of merit. Authors of the selected manuscripts are awarded prizes and the texts are published as part of the Carnot Collection. The themes must fit within the unifying title:

“Men, Ideas and Means of Modernity,

late 18th to early 20th century.”

  • École du Louvre

Creation of a «History of Technical and Industrial Heritage Chair»

The Foundation has financed the creation of a “History of Technical and Industrial Heritage Chair” through a 6-year financial commitment beginning with the 1997-1998 Academic Year. The purpose of this chair is the education of students in traditional savoir-faire and techniques, often forgotten, which they will use in the museum world or on historic/archeological sites. The professional demand for studying, managing and reviving this cultural heritage is significant, while few training programs exist that truly satisfy this need.

Our Objectives

  • To continue the Carnot family’s contribution to human values.

  • To transmit the intellectual and moral heritage of a family that has marked more than a century of French history.

  • To encourage the presence of French scientific culture and education in the world.
